{"id":164,"date":"2020-06-30T21:27:45","date_gmt":"2020-06-30T21:27:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/adventurescript.com\/?p=164"},"modified":"2020-06-30T21:27:47","modified_gmt":"2020-06-30T21:27:47","slug":"taylor-mountain-loop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/adventurescript.com\/?p=164","title":{"rendered":"Taylor Mountain Loop"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Taylor Mountain \u2013 Rattlesnake Mountain \u2013 Tiger Mountain route is gaining a lot of attention these days so I figured I\u2019d better pen a story about the trip Eric and I did a few weeks back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eric and I both live on Mercer Island so we left from home and headed south to Renton.&nbsp; From there we followed the Cedar River Trail to SE 216<sup>th<\/sup> St, just south of Highway 18.&nbsp; We turned left onto SE 216<sup>th<\/sup> and rode east to Issaquah-Hobart road.&nbsp; From there it\u2019s a quick left and then a right onto SE 208<sup>th<\/sup> St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SE 208<sup>th<\/sup> St runs nearly due east gaining a bit over 1000 feet in 8 miles.&nbsp; Sometimes the climbing is gradual, sometimes it\u2019s in your face.&nbsp; Eventually we came to a \u201cNo Trespassing\u201d sign where we turned left past a sturdy yellow gate and commenced a steep rough climb.&nbsp; From here it\u2019s descent gravel riding all the way down to a large power station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/adventurescript.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_2624-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-166\" width=\"333\" height=\"444\" srcset=\"http:\/\/adventurescript.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_2624-768x1024.jpeg 768w, http:\/\/adventurescript.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_2624-225x300.jpeg 225w, http:\/\/adventurescript.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_2624-1152x1536.jpeg 1152w, http:\/\/adventurescript.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_2624-1536x2048.jpeg 1536w, http:\/\/adventurescript.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_2624-scaled.jpeg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px\" \/><figcaption>Stream bed hike-a-bike<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the power station Eric and I descended some unpleasant chunky railroad ballast which quickly petered out to a trail turned streambed.&nbsp; The streambed &#8211; definitely hike-a-bike \u2013 took us under Highway 18.&nbsp; Once under the highway we were able to remount and followed a narrow path out to a residential road that led to the Upper Preston Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From here it\u2019s a fast downhill drop into Issaquah along the Grand Ridge access trail.&nbsp; Eric had to be home for a teleconference so we put the hammer down and pushed hard all the way back to Mercer Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you live in or around Seattle this is a good middle distance, mixed media ride with low traffic road miles.\u00a0 This is a really good route for those looking for a mid-week early evening escape from the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Link to the route: https:\/\/www.strava.com\/activities\/3437471766<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Taylor Mountain \u2013 Rattlesnake Mountain \u2013 Tiger Mountain route is gaining a lot of attention these days so I figured I\u2019d better pen a story about the trip Eric and I did a few weeks back.
